Description

Propellerhead Reason 4 

Reason is a virtual studio rack with all the tools and instruments you need to turn your ideas into music. It has built in sequencers, synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, loop player, a mixer, professional mastering tools, effects and dynamic processors. Our Reason course is aimed at the entry level student who has little or no experience of using Reason.

Dates: 
Weekends and Mondays (dates to be arranged according to demand)
Times: 10:30-4:30pm
Places: 1-3 participants

Cost per person/per session: £180 (1 participant)/£150 (2 participants)/£130 (3 participants)

Aims

To enable participants to create and produce music in their preferred style using the Reason software including its instruments and processors.

Objectives/Learning Outcomes 

 

By the end of the course participants will:

 

- Learn the key features of Reason and how to integrate it within a computer midi studio
- Understand the principles of drum programming and looping by using Redrum and Dr Rex

- Understand the principles of synthesis by using and manipulating sounds and sound modules within Reason, Thor, Subtractor and Malstrom

- Understand the principles of sampling by creating and manipulating samples using the two built in Reason samplers, NN-XT, and NN19

- Be Introduced to sound manipulation by exploring the effects and devices in Reason, including sequencers, mixers, arpeggiators, reverbs, delays, vocoders and the "sound destruction unit" Scream 4.

- Use Reason 4's new sequencer and MClass Mastering Suite to create, mix and master their own music.

Sound Gallery is a social enterprise with many years experience of engaging and inspiring people through the creative process of making music. Since May 2008, we have been running a professional recording and music production studio in the basement complex at Exeter Phoenix. Sound Gallery Studios include a recording studio, live room, amp room and two rehearsal rooms. We also offer a wider range of music workshops, music technology courses, music industry networking events and live music showcases.
