| SiMPTI: Standards in Music Production Technology & Industry This is a programme of training, learniing and working experiences designed to provide access to a commercial recording studio and the tools used in creative production and recording. Cost: £25 per day Dates: 20-24 Feb 2012 Time: 11am-4pm More info: www.simpti.com SUITABILITY: for GCSE, A-Level and BTech students who wish to undertake their work experience in a recording studio. ACTIVITIES: Below are some examples of participant engagement. These tasks are not compulsory nor exclusive of any other activities related to the nature of our work: - Studio experience: Sound Gallery Studios is the ideal place for young people to experience and engage with real life situations and try out a range of tasks before they embark on a career path within the music industry. Participants can expect to observe recording and mixing sessions, participate in equipment maintenance tasks and attend workshops in basic live sound setup, drum tuning etc. - Advice & Information: our staff can provide careers advice & surgeries and will encourage the participants to explore various career possibilities in the music and creative media industries. - Workshops & Masterclasses with Guest Engineers/Producers (Logic 9/Pro Tools 9): participants will attend a music technology workshop or master-class in recording, mixing and mastering delivered by experienced, qualified tutors. Due to our unique relationship with music software and hardware companies, we are able to offer access to exclusive demonstrations on new products (education discounts are also available). - Studio management and administration: tasks related to running a professional studio, music industry research and guidance on organising safe and successful events and running a social enterprise. DescriptionSound Gallery is a social enterprise with many years experience of engaging and inspiring people through the creative process of making music. Since May 2008, we have been running a professional recording and music production studio in the basement complex at Exeter Phoenix. Sound Gallery Studios include a recording studio, live room, amp room and two rehearsal rooms.
