COBRA (City of Bristol Rising Artists) 2003-2007

The project brought together students from City of Bristol College and ignited their passion for creating original songs, lyrics and harmonies under the guidance of Jim Grice Peters (Sound Gallery) and Jez Taylor (Playback Youth Theatre). Over the period of 4 years, the participants formed bands and duos or emerged as solo singer-songwriters in an explosion of self-expression, talent and creativity which are captured in CD compilations and film documentaries.

The original aim of the project was to engage young people with musicians and industry professionals from music production, recording and film backgrounds in order to enrich the educational environment and to bring more positive attitudes to personal development and attainment.

The sessions took place at Dockside Studios in Bristol and later on inspired the launch of E.R.A. Exeter Rising Artists project in Exeter.

This youth enrichment programme was set up by Maria Peters and Grice Peters with support from UnLtd Millennium Award  Level 1, City of Bristol College and Aim Higher.
