STUDIO 1 – RAPHAEL STUDIO
Studio 1 is the main recording studio space and it is designed by renowned acoustician Max Hodges (Sound On Sound). Studio 1 includes the Live Room & Vocal Booth and is equipped with a range of classic studio mics, valve amps, Gretsch and Ludwig drum kits and analogue synths.
We offer a wide range of integrated recording solutions, based around an Apple Mac Pro, Pro Tools and Logic Pro system with pristine high end AD/DA conversion and clocking from the SSL (Solid State Logic) Alphalink and Prism Sound Orpheus.
Studio 1 is also connected to Studio 2 and the Control room via an AVB network which provides great flexibility, enhancing the recording capability and enabling larger groups or socially distanced musicians to multi-track and record live. The room is air-conditioned, fully ventilated and acoustically treated with high-end acoustic Absorbing & BAD (Binary Amplitude Diffsorbor™) panels and Diffusor panels designed and manufactured by RPG.
The space has a unique, bespoke (LED lit) suspended cloud to provide absorption when recording full drum kits and other instruments. Now now equipped with a Genelec monitoring system Studio 1 is also a control room quality listening environment.
Studio 1 is also linked to our neighbouring radio station Phonic FM, which enables us to run Maida Vale-style live sessions on-air as well as pre-recorded sessions. Dedicated to sax legend Raphael Ravenscroft who worked out of the studio in his later years on a number of personal projects and album releases.
