Positive People programme

We are proud to announce that Sound Gallery is a specialist delivery partner in this project which is the first programme of its kind in Devon and ‘aims to help over 2,619 individuals (25 years +) who are out of work to build their confidence and develop their skills including life skills and digital technology. Funded by the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Community Fund. Led and managed by Pluss CIC.

Who is eligible?

Anyone who is over 25 years old and living in Devon

Not in any kind of work – this includes zero hours contracts or self-employment – and is unemployed or is economically inactive.

This includes those disadvantaged by:

Age, Gender, Disabilities, Long-term health conditions, Long-term unemployed (12 months +), No qualifications

SINGING & songwriting

The recording studio is an intimate, creative space designed to encourage participants to express themselves and record their musical ideas, including songwriting, vocal & performance coaching and improvisation sessions. The aim is to encourage participants to find their own voice/identity, reduce negative thinking and nurture confidence and self-esteem in a non-judgemental, safe environment.

Music Production & RECORDING 

These sessions introduce recording & production techniques used in a professional recording studio including; mic placement, sampling, programming, EQ, dynamics and more. This course also promotes the learning of new digital skills, encourages personal development and enhances participants confidence and self-esteem through self-expression, the creation of original music and the ability to take their musical skills further.

Electronic Music Production

Participants learn how to create contemporary electronic music using modern Digital Audio Workstations (Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reason etc). Explore the processes of Electronic Music Production, including programming loops and beats, sound design, sampling and synthesis to create your own professional sounding tracks. This course also promotes the learning of new digital skills, encourages personal development and enhances participants confidence and self-esteem through self-expression through music and the creation of original music.

Music industry  advice sessions

These sessions provide invaluable advice and guidance about how to promote your music on the internet and on social media platforms, how to set up your own record label and sustain a career in the music industry and more In association with Integrity Records, one of the U.K.’s longest running truly independent record labels.

Participants gain confidence, a sense of direction in life and learn how to sustain a career in the music industry.


This course is an introduction to the unique and innovative software Ableton Live. The course will cover setting up and using audio and midi clips, arranging your track, utilising the session and arrangement views, effects and processing, mixing and mastering and live performance. By the end of the course the participants will be able to use Ableton Live with audio and midi, clips and effects, to arrange and produce their own music and at the same time gain new IT and digital technology skills and increase their confidence and self-worth.

I’m looking to learn better how to use Ableton to create music & generally become fluid with the software & start producing music properly. Also how to properly setup use & configure Various MIDI equipment to work with it correctly. SB
