UK Youth Fund-Covid Resilience

We are delighted to announce that in 2021, Sound Gallery CIC was 1 of 103 organisations which were awarded funding as part of the UK Youth Fund-Covid Resilience to help us to continue to offer creative & training opportunities for young people.

Sound Gallery will provide creative and educational opportunities for young people age 14-24 years including recording studio experiences, 1:1 tuition (face to face and online) sessions on Music production techniques and Music Industry advice sessions.

This programme will aim to increase young people’s resilience and to improve their mental health and well-being as well as enhancing their technical skills and employability. This unique provision gives young people the opportunity to put into practice existing skills and learn new ones, plan their career paths and re-connect with the outside world supported by positive role models within a safe, nurturing and professional environment.

Outcomes & benefits include:

  • Young people will build up the resilience needed to self-regulate and will develop confidence and belief in their abilities to help them overcome mental health issues, to manage their current situations and to or deal with a crisis, trauma or grief (e.g COVID related bereavement).
  • Young people will gain technical, IT and music technology skills on music production and recording as well as social and interpersonal skills, including organisational and communication skills, working as part of a team, trouble-shooting, digital skills, analytical and evaluation skills which will increase their employability and will decrease their barriers to employment and further training.
  • Young people will get the opportunity to expand their professional networks in the music industry and create professional showreels, portfolios and CVs to use in job interviews.
  • Young people will be more confident and have higher self-esteem, aspirations and drive to progress to the next stages in their lives as musicians, producers, music managers, promoters or technicians.

Many thanks to  UK Youth & special thanks to Julia & Hans Rausing Trust for their generosity.
