Sound Gallery’s team has many years experience in the music industry and have recorded and produced countless professional and emerging artists and bands. Our team is passionate about music, they are talented musicians in their own right and they are genuinely interested in unlocking potential and nurturing talent. Their collective experience spans many fields from recording, production, mixing, mastering, sound design and live sound to album releases, events management, artist promotion, education and marketing.

GRICE Peters (FRSA): Recording Artist – Singer/Songwriter – Arranger – Producer 

London born art rock artist, musician, producer and social entrepreneur Grice Peters studied at Croydon Art College and is the founder of Sound Gallery (2000), Sound Gallery CIC (2007) and hungersleep productions (2010). In 2008, he established and built Sound Gallery Studios at Exeter Phoenix.

Grice’s innovative approach to sound production and his talent for songwriting have attracted interest from professional musicians in the industry which have resulted in successful releases and collaborations with high profile artists such as Raphael Ravenscroft (Pink Floyd, Vangelis/Blade Runner), Richard Barbieri (Japan, P-Tree), Steve Jansen (Japan, Exit North), Hossam Ramzy (Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin), B J Cole and more.

Grice has recorded and produced a number of solo artists and bands in the studio, including Siobhan McCrudden’s debut album ‘Icarus Girl’ which has received rave reviews for its striking melodies and production on national radio and press.

Grice has also written soundtracks for TV documentaries and films: Black Diamond films, BBC2 and BBC Worldwide (William & Kate: A Royal Engagement), MTV, Sky and more.

As a social entrepreneur he is the driving force behind Sound Gallery’s ethos and passion for high quality services, integrity and artistic excellence. Grice has founded and personally delivered a number of cross-platform projects and music industry events, including the Analogue to Digital Music Expo, Phoenixsounds, SiMPTI, C.O.B.R.A (City of Bristol Rising Artists), E.R.A (Exeter Rising Artists), The Virtual Vincenzo project and more.

GRICE has released 3 solo albums on his label hungersleep records: Propeller (2012) which was shortlisted in the UK album of the year category at the MPG Awards, Alexandrine (2015) and One Thousand Birds (2019). His albums received highly positive reviews (The Musician, PROG magazine, iOPages) and airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Introducing and worldwide.

Duncan Chave: Recording – Mixing & Mastering Engineer – Sound Design

Recording engineer, sound designer and Sound Gallery’s Technical Director, Duncan has extensive experience of working with musicians, composers and arrangers as well as delivering music technology courses and tuition on a number of DAWs (Logic, Cubase, Ableton, Reason).

Duncan’s experience ranges recording bands, singer-songwriters, choirs and solo artists including Joss Stone, Slowdive, GRICE, Sound of the Sirens, Wildwood Kin, Rev Hammer, Steve Howe (Asia/YES) and more to sound design, keyboard programming and the preparation of sampled sounds for West End musicals, the Royal National Theatre, TV and film music.

Duncan also records audio for voiceovers, podcasts, radio plays and audiobooks, advertising agencies, TV, radio, film-makers, theatre productions and art installations. Duncan delivers Sound Gallery’s music technology courses and is involved in Sound Gallery’s SiMPTI work experience and Access to SiMPTI programme as part of the #Focus5 Project.

He also plays live (Eigenharp) and uses Ableton Live, loops and programming with art rock artist GRICE.

Maria Kamba Peters (MEd. in Education): Education & Marketing manager

Maria started her music journey in Athens, where she studied piano, music theory and harmony up to grade 6. After finishing a BEd. degree in Psychology, Education and Pedagogy at the University of Athens, she came to the UK where she completed an MEd. in Education at the School of Education at the University of Exeter. She worked as a research assistant at the School of Education at Exeter University under the wing of professor Malcolm Ross on the State of The Arts project which was published under both their names in 1998.

Following a 12 year career in Further Education teaching Greek and Psychology at Exeter College and City of Bristol College, Maria was employed by Sound Gallery as Youth Volunteering programme co-ordinator. She currently co-ordinates Sound Gallery’s music technology courses and SiMPTI work experience programmes and is in charge of administration, finances, marketing and fundraising.

Maria is also part of the hungersleep records as part of the marketing team and as a creative contributor and spoken word artist. She also offers consultation services and advice sessions on social media for the modern musician, event management, marketing, educational programmes and music related projects for young people for youth organisations and educational establishments.

Nick Tarbitt – Integrity Records: Record label owner & Music Publishing

In the early 1990s, Nick Tarbitt set up Integrity Records Ltd, now one of the U.K.’s longest running truly independent record labels and known for finding & nurturing cool new talent. Their releases, spanning various genres from punk to drum & bass via indie-folk and quirky pop, have been heard on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2, alongside XFM/Radio X, Q Radio, Amazing Radio and numerous regional stations in the UK and abroad.  Many of their artists have played live sessions from the BBC Maida Vale studios for Steve Lamacq, Jo Whiley, Zane Lowe, Mike Davies and the late John Peel.

Nick also has several years’ experience as a media & entertainment lawyer, advising musicians, management companies and record labels on contractual issues, but with a particular interest in assisting new artists, musicians and performers with their early steps in the industry, including their first band agreements, management contracts, recording deals, licensing and publishing agreements.
